A natural talent and self-taught cook, Tino opened his first restaurant in Puerto Rico (in partnership with his father) at the ripe age of 15. His drive and desire for greater learning opportunities pushed Tino to embark on a series of travels around the World. These cultural experiences allowed Tino to enhance his knowledge while capturing different flavors that would later become fundamental in the development of his own unique style.
Upon his return, Tino spent several years as a chef for some of New York City's top restaurants allowing him to hone his skills. A year after the tragic events of September 11, Tino decided that it was time to return home and reconnect with his roots. This decision became the turning point of his career, launching the beginning of his own personal journey.
In 2007, Tino finally opened his own Latin-Fusion restaurant in the town of Isabela, Puerto Rico. The open kitchen concept employed at his restaurant allowed a true and direct engagement with his clientele. Tino discovered that connecting with people while cooking, talking about life and food was his true passion. Tino's restaurant quickly became a hub for local celebrities, sport personalities and public figures that would regularly visit his restaurant to watch him cook with a smile while navigating dinner hour, or even join him in the kitchen to learn a few tricks themselves.
Chef Tino’s magnetic personality landed him a regular slot on Puerto Rico’s top network morning show "Entre Nosotras". In recent years, Tino has earn a regular spot as part of the Food Network’s roster, guest- starring on some of its most popular shows, and even allowing him to host two of his own network TV shows with "Tino’s Latino" being the first to be broadcast on the Cooking Channel.
After tragically losing his home and business to Hurricane Maria in 2017, Tino relocated to Dallas with his children with the goal of reaching new audiences and continuing to share his passion and zest for both food and life.
